Wellness Tip: Childhood Obesity Awareness Month

Childhood obesity puts kids at risk for health problems that were once seen only in adults, like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease.

The good news is that childhood obesity can be prevented. In honor of National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, CCS encourages your family to make healthy changes together.

  • Get active outside: Walk around the neighborhood, go on a bike ride, or play basketball at the park.
  • Limit screen time: Keep screen time (time spent on the computer, watching TV, or playing video games) to 2 hours or less a day.
  • Make healthy meals: Buy and serve more vegetables, fruits, and whole-grain foods.

Taking small steps as a family can help your child stay at a healthy weight.

ELA Curriculum Night

Please join us on Tuesday, Sept 17 for English/Language Arts Curriculum Night.  The evening begins with supper at 6:00, followed by sessions at each grade level to help parents and others understand the standards and expectations for this school year in our English/Language Arts program.  Please return the RSVP that was sent home this week, so we will have an accurate count for our meal.

Congratulations! The following Stedman Elementary Staff Members have been recognized for the upcoming school year! Jennifer Rozier has been named Teacher of the Year for 2019-2020. Ebony Blue has been named Support Staff of the Year for 2019-2020, and Sandra Wrench has been named Employee of the Year for 2019-2020. We applaud each of of these valuable Stedman Elementary staff members for their service to our school and our students.
